II Law and Economics
On November 1st and 2nd , Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) promoted the second edition of the Law and Economics Seminar. The event was supported by Columbia University of New York, CLS Brazil, Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce, Brazilian Association of Law and Economics, and the Financial Times.
FGV president, Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, presented the lecture "Past, Present and Future: Where is Brazil headed?" during the breakfast on the first day of the event, which took place from 8 am to 10 am.
The 2nd Law and Economics Seminar was held at 8:00 am on November 2nd , composed of five panels: "Economic analysis of law and judicial activism", "Economic analysis of law and regulation", "Economic analysis of law and relations of consumption, "" Appropriate methods of dispute resolution and economic analysis of law "and" Economic analysis of law and corporate law ", which were attended by Brazilian and US authorities, professionals and academics.
The meeting aimed to deepen the debates and reflections initiated in the first edition in 2017. The meeting sought to foster partnerships and concrete developments, focusing on the impact of judicial decisions on the economy. Among the topics discussed were activism, regulation, mediation, artificial intelligence, the impact of a judicial decision on health, consumer law, among others.
