Nobel Prize-winning economist and president of Federal Supreme Court participate in international seminar

The Nobel Prize-winning economist will give the keynote speech, on “Challenges of Modern Regulation.” He will also address privacy regulation, a topic of central importance to contemporary society.

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Rio de Janeiro Law School will hold an international seminar called “Challenges of Modern Regulation” on September 14, at 10 am, on FGV’s YouTube channel. The online event, part of the school’s Project to Spread Knowledge of Law, Economics and Justice, will be opened by the president of the Federal Supreme Court, Justice Luiz Fux. It will also feature Professor Jean Tirole of the University of Toulouse, who won the Nobel Prize for Economics in 2014.

FGV’s President, Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, alongside Justice Luiz Fux, will introduce Professor Tirole. The president of the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban), Isaac Sidney, and the dean of FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School, Professor Sérgio Guerra, will also take part in the event’s opening discussion.

There will then be a discussion involving the dean of FGV EPGE, Rubens Cysne; the dean of FGV EESP, Yoshiaki Nakano; the director of FGV Research Network, Goret Paulo and the dean of FGV’s Sao Paulo Law School, Oscar Vilhena. The moderator will be the vice dean of FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School, Antônio Maristrello Porto.
