Tax reform and impacts on agribusiness are themes of online meeting

Brazil's taxes on agriculture are complex, varying depending on each farmer’s region, category and activities.

The Center for Agribusiness Studies (FGVAgro) at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Economics is holding an online debate called “Tax Reform – What Will Be the Impacts on Agribusiness?” This public event will take place on April 26, at 10 am, on FGV’s YouTube channel. The speakers will discuss tax reform proposals, helping the sector position itself in light of the latest developments.

Brazil's taxes on agriculture are complex, varying depending on each farmer’s region, category and activities. Currently, many direct and indirect taxes apply to agricultural activity, raising the prices of products and pushing up costs in the entire production chain.

The event will be moderated by Antônio Carlos Kfouri Aidar, the executive secretary of FGVAgro’s board. The speakers will be Alexandre Mendonça de Barros, chairman of FGVAgro’s board; Eurico Santi a professor at the FGV Sao Paulo Law School and one of the directors of the school’s Center for Fiscal Citizenship (CCiF); Nelson Machado, a professor at FGV EESP and another director of CCiF; and Roberto Rodrigues, Professor Emeritus at FGV.
