Ten of the most important contemporary Brazilian artists showcased their works at the 2018 edition of the art fair Art Berlin in the German capital in September. The exhibition “Perspectives on Contemporary Brazilian Art” is the first cooperation project between the art fairs Art Rio and Art Berlin. The partnership, initiated and managed by FGV Europe, aims to expand and improve the commercial and cultural exchange between the German and Brazilian art markets.

According to the curator team Paulo Herkenhoff and Luiza Mello, the artists that have been chosen to participate at Art Berlin 2018 “belong to different generations and their works have been organized around three themes that are currently being discussed in the field of contemporary Brazilian art: Brazil’s colors, Brazilian identity and the African influence in our culture, knowledge and history.” These aspects and their artistic expression was also the focus of a roundtable organized and moderated by FGV Europe as part of the “Art Berlin Art Talks” on Sunday, September 30th.
